School Bus Workshops a Success!

Five two-hour workshops were held across the state the week of June 23rd to inform school systems and other interested individuals in how schools can take advantage of the many benefits of soy biodiesel.

Soy biodiesel, a renewable fuel made from Alabama and U. S. soybeans, is the cleaner, cost-effective alternative to traditional petroleum diesel. By using soy biodiesel in Alabama school buses, we could significantly reduce the harmful emissions that our children are exposed to every day.

ADECA has added a new clause to the Biofuels for Schools Grant Program application to address school system concerns related to future biodiesel pricing. The new clause reads as follows:

""If, during the three year time period of the agreement, the price of B20 biodiesel on the Alabama State Fuels Contract exceeds the petroleum diesel price by more than 5%, the school system may temporarily suspend the B20 use requirement and fuel with petroleum diesel fuel. The school system must return to using B20 when the price differential returns to no more than 5%. The school system must notify the ADECA Energy Division in writing of its intent to temporarily suspend the use of B20 and again upon resumption.""

ADECA Fuel Tank Cleaning - Grant Package for Public School Fleets

Following is link to the complete ADECA grant package to apply for up to $2,500 for tank cleaning in preparation for the implementation of B20 biodiesel in your school system. Read the package carefully and fill it out completely. Signature page must be signed by your school system Superintendent and whomever else he/she designates.
