Alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs), also known as clean fuel vehicles, are 50-95% cleaner than almost all of even the newest gasoline or diesel vehicles being produced today. These reduced emissions are a critical part in our region's efforts to reduce air pollution.
While most AFVs have a cost premium for the vehicles themselves, in many cases using AFVs can result in a fuel cost and operations savings. Numerous funding sources are also available to help reduce the vehicle cost premium.
In addition to the specific information below the U.S. Department of Energy has a website that will provide comparative information on vehicles and a quick analysis on potential fuel savings. Click here to try it out.
